Default 3 COMMANDO BDE TRF DATING

I am trying to tie down the dates of introduction of use for the shown TRF of 3 Commando Bde RM, and the combined version for CHF. I have these in both OD and SAND patterns. Can anyone help with the year each was initially issued please?

Default 3 Commando Bde TRF Dating

Top row, left to right: 2002 and 2002
Second row, left to right: 2003 and unofficially adopted 2006
Bottom row, left to right: 2007 (possibly earlier) and 2009

Hope this helps

Pete

Have a look at rmhistorical.com

Badges are illustrated with some dating information cross referenced to various orders, instructions and dress regulations.

Default 3 Commando Bde TRF Dating

Hi

Another excellent source of information is 'Personal Distinctions: 350 Years of Royal Marines Uniforms and Insignia' by John Rawlinson. This is published by the Royal Marines Historical Society (Special Publication 41). This was first published in 2014.

Appreciation for responses received - I have a fair number of books to the Corps, mainly history, nothing on insignia. Still have my original titles and Bde signs issued 1957 though. Details seem to be scarce in the area of cloth insignia. Example the titles ROYAL MARINES COMMANDO with a Vocab Number embroidered at both ends - good or bad? I've had a pair close on 30 years and still don't know. Never mind - bash on regardless.
