Without deviating from the thread I have never understood why people won't name dealers who sell fakes. There is no law that I know of that incriminates a person for saying that another person has a fake for sale or has sold a fake.
It's only when one starts to accuse a dealer/person of knowing that it is a fake that you enter the area of being threatened to be sued. It is extremely hard to prove in court that a person has knowingly sold fakes and leaves one open for a defamation law suit if you're wrong. Trust me I know. I've been down this road when I had my 73 page web site and I named everyone who sold Rhodesian fakes and if I had their real names or used them as well. |

Hello Peter,
Quite frankly, I think you have answered that with your own third sentence, either that, or they simply don't want any unpleasantness with idiots that they deliberately have dealings with, normally through their own particular brand of greed. I agree with you, these people annoy me, they can be so purposeful and blatant in what they do, a member of this forum, in particular, has been flagged up a number of occasions, quite openly sells his dross on ebay and deliberately describes it as original, truly amazing. Regards again, Frank Quote:

It’s scary to think that cap/badge seller was duped by a fake as far back as the late 80’s |

I remember an announcement pages article in one of the military/arms magazines from about 1980 saying that a company was proud to announce that it had just completed reproduction of all the major glengary badges and was now going to start on all the minor variations.
