Default Women's Army Service. Army Pay Department

I am struggling to find out anything regarding this badge. From what little there is on the internet it may be Great War vintage, but I do not know if it was also worn during WW2.

If anyone could enlighten me I would be grateful.

Thank you.

58 views and no responses must make this a pretty scarce badge.

A quick search on the website for the Imperial records show that they have a badge for the Women's Army Service, Army Pay Department in their collection. Unfortunately they do not have images online and neither do they indicate WW1 or WW2. Reference is made to Women Clerical Staff in the Army Pay Department for 1914 - 1920. I wonder therefore if you sent an email to the IWM whether they would be able to give you the information that you seek?

I wonder if the following would be of any interest to you:

The size, style (see WW1 Women's Land Army embroidered badges) and construction looks more like WW1 than WW2 and certainly never heard/seen anything like this in 30+ years of WW2 collecting.

Thank you; I had read the article before I started the thread. I had never previously heard of the Army Pay Department. I had always thought that particular aspect of army life was handled by the Army Pay Corps.
