Cheesy History
Perhaps because it is topical, no-one watching these shows knows any better and the subject matter is easy to substantiate when requesting funding. If you compare the work of the CBC from a lifetime ago (say the 1970s) to what they produce now, the stuff they now produce is pretty bad. The bar is now set very low as they prefer to focus on social history and use the made up re-enactment crap instead of researching actual historic footage.
