Default Beret

A post WW11 khaki officers beret with a bullion wire cap badge. Condition is very good. I cannot find a makers label. 25 including post to the U.K.

A more specific date would be post 1983. Prior to 1983 The Yorkshire Volunteers wore a navy blue beret, the badge worn on the navy blue beret was also on a navy blue background. When the khaki beret was introduced in 1983 existing stocks of the badges on the navy backing were exhausted before khaki backed badges were made available. Having said that, many officers in the Battalions of the Yorkshire Volunteers (and there were four in total) were Yorkshiremen (noted by some as being "careful" when it comes to financial matters) who saw nothing to gain from buying a new badge, simply removed their badge from the navy blue beret and attached it to the khaki beret. In the 1990s there were still quite a number on obsolete navy blue backed badges being worn on khaki berets
