Default Pint-size and giant-size - 1943 Acme News Picture

CREDIT LINE (ACME) 6/29/43 (JR)
PINT-SIZE AND GIANT-SIZE
MIDDLE EAST -- Ninety-pound Corporal Valerie Booth and 280-pound C.S.M Williams admire each others new uniforms obtained at a special department in the Middle East that guarantees to outfit the tiny and mammoth of the British Services in exactly 18 minutes. Corporal Booth is the Middle East's smallest A.T.S, while C.S.M. Williams is the biggest soldier. Neither could get clothes at a Quartermaster store.

Interesting to see this style of photograph as late as the 1940's, it was a common theme in British Units of the Victorian and Edwardian era with many 'Tallest and Shortest' in the Regiment photographs produced.

Simon.

These sort of photos cropped up a bit during WWII, a common theme seems to have been a tiny Tommy escorting a gigantic German prisoner of war.

At that angle I wouldn't be too sure that it is her uniform that he is admiring.
