2nd Bn Lancashire Fusiliers, Palestine 1935
Captioned on the back as "7 Platoon, B Coy, Haifa, Palestine, 1935" this is a nice group shot showing pagri flashes (one worn with a hackle) and metal shoulder titles.

Very nice shot of the Pagri badges (flashes) worn. The LF is one of the most commonly encountered Pagri badges for collectors. They wore the same pattern for so long, right through ww2 on slouch hats and are found hand embroidered construction with the grenade padded like a boss, and machine embroidered examples which are flat.
Note that the helmet with the hackle appears to be a Wolseley pattern helmet, while the others are the big "Bombay Bowler" helmets made from pith. I believe the later mentioned were superior with regard to sun protection. CB |
