Southern Rhodesia engineers
I was reading the previous thread on a fake Rhodesian Engineeers badge and I had to scramble downstairs to the collection as I knew I had only one Rhodesian badge and it was an engineers. Mine differs as it has Southern Rhodesia on the inner border. It looks good to me but what do I know about Rhodesian badges. If anyone could shed alittle more light on it for me that would be great... also why the Southern designation... thanks Jim

Hi Jim,
Rest easy ! Your badge looks 100%. In fact it is a very nice badge, worn 1948-1956 ( according to Owen's book). I dont think that collectors need to be too bothered about the Rhodesian fakes - they are really bad lead copies which were used in a particular 'picture' showing all the badges within an outline of the map of Rhodesia. Ok as a pub decoration, but that is about all. Mike |

Hi Jim, I agree with Mike, the badge looks good. You asked about Southern Rhodesia. You had Southern and Northern Rhodesia. Northern Rhodesia became Zambia and Southern Rhodesia just became Rhodesia. The badge is in Owen, number 3307. Regards Andrew
