Genuine Rhodesian UDI SAS Beret badge
I am thinking about buying a cap badge here:
http://www.cathaymilitaria.co.za/badge4.html SAS Rhodesian UDI Period Beret Badge (no lugs) Rare. US$120 £60 Rands 850 Ref.No. B67 The badge is coming from a South African dealer. One would think he is an expert on Rhodesian badges......but has he made a mistake? My question is, is this not a Belgian 1st Parachute Battalion Badge? How can one tell the difference?

Hello all
A strange one because these dealers have a good reputation. I think there are Rhodesian SAS badges on this site in the albums. Also, if you look at the date of the page(2007)it has likely been sold anyway! Cheers Dave

I suppose that all dealers can make mistakes. We here all have our own specialities and I do believe that in our own respective areas we each have far more knowledge than a dealer would. A dealer normaly has a broad general knowledge, but not always a good knowledge of certain areas. I am not defending the dealer, but just passing comment. Regards Andrew

Not Rhodesian for certain.
Their web site never seems to be up-to-date. Not their thing I suspect. Quote:

Definitely not Rhodesian and I would agree with Peter that it looks like a Belgian Parachute Regiment badge.
