Default Opinions, please.

Wishing to learn more about Commonwealth insignia, in particular, Commonwealth cloth, I would like to ask the opinion of our South African collectors about this ebay lot of cloth shoulder titles. The construction of the bottom title is especially of interest. It appears to be embroidered on a canvas material. Is this a common method of construction?

Hi Bill, the top 2 seem very standard for SA cloth titles. Re. the Rhodesian one, I have seen many Rhodesian cloth badges printed/embroidered on a very coarse material. It isn't canvas, but more like the material the uniforms were made of. I will however leave comment to some of the Rhodesian collectors. Regards Andrew

Hello all
The Rhodesian title looks good to me.
Dare I say mid to late sixties piece?
There is an example in one of my albums.
Cheers
Dave

Thanks. Helps me get my head wrapped around the differences in styles of manufacture. There is considerable variation in the ways embroidery can be done.

Hi all,the RRR title is fine.worn Federal period between 1953 and 1963.there are a couple of variations in backing cloth including a finer weave plus another that is on a black backing as opposed to normal olive.regards,Craig.
