Order of The Thistle
Breast Star of the Most Ancient and Noble Order of the Thistle (circa 1810). The Order of the Thistle is the highest order of Scottish chivary. According to legend it was originally founded by King Achaius in the 8th century to commemorate a victory over the Saxons, but it is more likely to have been founded by King James V in 1540 as the Order of St. Andrew. This Order fell into abeyance and was formally reinstituted by King James VII and II in 1687. This info is from The Highlanders book, by Fitzroy Maclean. I have woundered if anyone has ever seen this badge or if one has ever been on the market. If so, how much did it sell for? What a find this would be!!!! Thanks, uncletom

The only copy of the Medal Yearbook is the 1999 one ,in that the ( metal )star of the order is valued at £1500-£4000, I am sure you could increase those values considerably fof current values

Uncletom, these do appear at auction every blue moon, the biggest auction house for orders decorations and medals is Dix Noonan Webb ... out of their database:
Thistle 1 (Sash Badge) Thistle 2 (Breast Star) Thistle 3 (Knight's Breast Star modern, more sensible price) no pictures unfortunately (any that site is sometimes very very slow!)
