Default Unknown Bugle badge for ID

Hi gents,

Is anyone able to identify this bugle badge for me please.

I don't even know if it's British. It has three loops to the reverse.

Ry

Hi Ry,

I too saw this badge and wondered if it was British. The closest I could find was K&K 1094 part of an RMLI glengarry 1870-1897 but the one you have shown is more intricate and K&K has it as GM.

Nice find, Dean.

Hi gents,

Dean,

I see what you mean there are similarities. I don't have the badge in my possession yet but judging from the images I would assume that it is at least of cap badge size, if not Glengarry.

I showed it to a dealer friend of mine this morning and although he could not place it he seemed to think that it may possibly be a Militia item.

Eric,

Thanks, I'm pleased that I saw it and put a bid on, better luck next time.

Regards

Ry

It could as easily be from one of the colonial/Commonwealth armies, all of whom had LI units modelled on, and sometimes slavishly copied from the British units.

Thanks Peter,

Something to consider.

I've recently decided due to my Green Jacket interest to put together a collection of Bugle horn type badges from any Regiment that used them so this one will fit right in.

Regards

Ry

The badge arrived this morning and is a nice little item, please see new images for dimensions.

It was in a bit of a dirty state but after a good rub with a silver cloth has come up nicely.

High Badgeboy,

It may be a sweetheart badge, what are the dimensions? Is there any chance that you could post a clearer image of the front as it is almost impossible to make out the detail from the one posted.

Regards

Ry

Default late suggestion

Hi Ry
Have just come across this from Rankin's book on military headdress.
It is very similar to the one you showed in 2009 (now deleted I see) except that the bugle is facing right. It is a USA Militia item dated 1833 - 39 by Rankin. What do you think ? Regards Jeff

Looks like a 6th Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers) sweetheart brooch (as already mentioned) from Queen Victoria's era.

I have the same problem, but it's a very old thread that has been resurrected, perhaps the images were removed?
