Default SA Irish cast badge variant

Have had this cast brass badge for some time and wondered if anybody has any info on it. It is in the shape of the Royal Irish Rifles but has the SA Irish motto. I have made an assumption that it was WW2 made in Egypt.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Dudley
