Default Tunic bullion

It makes me weep. Someone ruined two Victorian(?) tunics in order to sell the insignia piecemeal. I have several other bits, including bullion collars and turnbacks.
The absence of buttons makes me think that these could have possibly belonged to Ambassadorial or Court Dress, but I'm not certain on this.

Hello GTB

I often see ebay listings for items "removed from tunic" and the like. I just hope that the tunic/uniform whatever was just too far gone to be of any use to anyone. At least some of the insignia was saved before it was binned and lost forever.

However, it does bother me that some people may be removing items from perfectly good uniforms just because they think they will get more money for them. Once the context of an item has been lost, a little bit of history has been lost as well.

Regards
Roger

Default Tunic bullion

The clothing stores at my old place used to put a Stanley knife down the back of all 'old' tunics, coats etc. when returned to stores so that they could not be re-issued. However, cuffs and collars, such as those photographed, could be re-cycled once the head storeman wasn't around!

Stephen.
