Default 9 Royal Fusiliers, 56 London Division

Recently purchase and to be put in connection with this thread:

http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=18714

Supposedly having been part of a collection put together during the war, this 56 London Division combined formation insignia has been listed as an epaulette slip on badged to the 9th battalion RF. Now, what could be the eventual RA origin of the red grenade? Thank you in advance for your help and knowledge!

According to my records (from a variety of sources) 9 RF, 167 Inf Bde throughout the War, wore a rectangular battalion flash, divided equally and horizontally, red over blue. But I have a KD slipon with 56 Inf Div sign, RA AoS strip and a red felt grenade worn Feb 42 to Nov 44 by 100 LAA Regt RA (a conversion from 18 RF in Dec 41). Conversely another note states that prior to conversion 18 RF wore a maroon grenade. Perhaps only red felt was readily available in Italy?

Well Mike, even if I am Italian, as a matter of fact i was not born yet, then! But your theory really makes some sense....
