Bob sorry to say from what I can see, photos aren’t great, both the WM 5L and 4DG look like repros to me.

The long pennons with top void on the 5 and similarly the 3 rays protruding below the left side of the scroll and shape of the crowns are all not good signs but I’d need a close up to be sure.

Billy your 5L with the reinforcing is a known fake. The other badge is I think a bit of a Frankenstein, clearly a die stamped badge but someone has replaced the lance tops with donors from a die cast badge.

Default 6th Inniskilling

Hi Luke

Yes I tend to agree.
I bought these items individually over the years for very little money on the basis that they were potentially rare items.
My gut feeling is that these white metal badges were made for the collectors market and were never worn by the regiments.
However they are still nice badges and a good talking point 😀

Regards
Bob

Would agree to the W/M badge being wrong but nicely maxeandhad accepted as such, the repaired 5th Lancers was probably due tocostat the time and abundance? Lack off!
Can find a nicer exa.ple at some point I admit but will get better pictures

Have inadvertently posted what I wanted to post here on another tthread so here goes for 2nd attempt!

Victorian/Edwardian 6th Dragoons sadly damaged but you can see Arch is pointed with inner door curved arch, brickwork similar to all White metal in #1.
2nd badge to the 6th Dragoons pulled from frame, it too show evidence of the pointy arch with curved door arch, a top view of the badges shows curviture of badge, no wonder you get Wonky Towers or broken badges for that if this was a common practice!

The two 5th Lancers from #1 all w/m being a copy and the bi-metal (repaired badge) looking rather sad the last 5th Lancers being, hopefully a good badge but requiringLances straightened, will leave off on that!

The arch is similar but not the same. Importantly it is not from the same die as the all WM badge.

No problem with either 6D, both are fine.

The cast back 5L is another known repro.

Having seen the ‘repaired’ badge close up it’s not one I’d endorse, very heavily mucked with and no sign of braze holes, those loops do not look right for Victorian/Edwardian era so are at best replacements and the front has been burnished down or has lost detail perhaps a cast copy.
