Default Genuine 3rd VB Cheshire cap badge.

I have been watching this badge on eBay described as a genuine 3rd VB Cheshire Regiment white metal cap badge. In the description it mentioned that the lugs had been removed and replaced with a slider so in my opinion the badge itself seems OK. But in all my years of collecting I have never seen this type of badge with the small scroll added to the 3rd VB, to the 1st and 4th battalion’s yes. So, I had a good look at it and it seem that a small plate with 3rd has been added at some time making me think it was a 4th VB that had been tampered with. All the 4th VB badges with the small scroll that I have seen all came with sliders. So imagine my surprise when it went for £71.07.

It is certainly the case that the white metal title scroll shown in the third photograph is in two pieces rather than one.

George,

I have similar Bn. altered VB badges in my collection.

I think yours is 100% genuine.

Jeweller made new Bn plaque to convert it from one Bn to another.

Probably by someone wanting to keep their own badge.

I like it.

regards
