Default Are these badges good?

Is the Malabar Vol Rif badge the real thing? The reason I ask is I'm a little amazed that badges over a 100 years old look as if they've just come out of the production. Thelugs also look as if they're new and freshly stuck. Ive dealt with the seller earlier and not had problems but sometimes wonder how these badges have absolutely no wear and tear. There are others as well on ebay. And I've been reading that many British badges on eBay are copies/fakes. Could this be the case here too.. actually this has put me off badges a bit and now I'm a little wary when I bid..I'd appreciate members' thoughts on this.
Thanks!

Hello,

I cant find any others on ebay to compare.

The photo of the rear is a little small.

It appears to have had other fixings north and south?

Need a larger photo of the rear to be honest.

regards

Hi Simon, what I meant was other newish looking badges also come up on eBay. My main question is why a badge that is supposed to be over a 100 years old has no wear or tarnish or patina and looks like it was made yesterday. It's a wel-made badge but there's no signs of ageing on it..

In relation to condition its quite normal for a 100 year old badge to look bright and clean like that. If kept in dry conditions in a drawer or frame it will look new.

That doesnt mean yours is old though as obviously brand new fakes are shiny too.

Need bigger photos to decide authenticity especially of the rear fittings.

regards
