15th/19th Hussars QC cap badge
Hi Folks
Looking at some cavalry stuff it just dawned on me that this what I thought was a standard OR's bi metal QC cap badge post 1953 looked wrong. It is the wm metal scroll "MEREBIMUR" it should be gilding metal. It is definitely not an officers badge, as it has a slider and is very obviously GM and wm and it's a badge I have had since about 1975, so not intended to be a post anodised badge. Is there any explanation? |

the word Merebimur also has that thin round font which I feel looks like it's formed from spaghetti and is thus quite distinct - and of course as seen on many fakes.

This type of badge was never issued nor officially worn but made for commercial sale.

I would regard that as completely spurious and would be reluctant to have an example even if I had actual evidence that it was worn by even a single serving member of the regiment when it was extant.

Hi Frank
Don't think you could have made it any clearer, so off to the crap drawer |

I think it just does not look good, but, no matter, an original example is a very common badge and an inexpensive one.

Font comparison - which may help for future purchases.
