Default 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards Shoulder Title Query

Good day.
I am trying to sort out display boards etc for the various regiments and
would like some help with a ST that isn't in the Westlake book.
I have enclosed a pic of the ones I have found so far to this regiment.
My query is about the one at the top right 'IV_DG'.
I would appreciate some help on its period of useage and whether my
assumption being correct in that it is an officers one.

Thanks, David

Default 1V DG Shoulder title

Hi David

I would agree with you that this is an officer's title. From your photograph it appears to have been made overseas or even by regimental resources.

I'm afraid I don't know what to offer other than ask the membership to research the history of the regimental deployments particularly those to India and Egypt. This will give approximate dates. You could of course try the Regimental HQ and/or the museum of the RDGs.

I await the results with interest

Best wishes

Gordon

Thanks Gordon. I will get in touch with the museum in York.
