Dorset finds
Hi all, am down at the Tank Museum, Dorset, as you do am enjoying the atmosphere, the smells and size of these beasts! But never find Iems to the Tank Corps surprisingly, this so far are what I have found though:-
Royal Air Force beret badge (RAF Regiment) I would assume? Royal Air Force Sweetheart any ideas on date would be appreciated have one in my head but would like to confirm! 1st W.W. "W.A.A.C." maker marked to " Bent & Parker Ltd. Birmingham & London" only has the one blade but a nice solid badge, not sure if the one at home is marked or not? The Red Cross badge, have a couple at home one being in Gilt the other similar to this but centre of Red enamelling has a chunck missing, this enamelling is complete so a nice edition. Hopefully will find some others all the best billy |

Hi David just been on the the rounds Bridgeport was one of the places just visited, found this badge, also believe it or not another RAF item but one whilst in Germany I didn't get the chance to acquire "RAF GUTERSLOH" deployed 3 Sqn and 4 Sqn Harrier,s on deployment into the bondoo! I was one of these guys support team for 3 years! Found this on a wall in Bridgeport, Picture shows Harrier landing next too woodland, in reality this would then be towed under prepared netting (Camoflage) to be refuelled, armed and returned to the fight, only now do we find out our Survival time was limited to a few Sorties if lucky, thats just the Pilots mind! We would stay till no more Aircraft and then somehow make an Orderly withdrawl??? Right!
Wimborne tomorrow as it has its market with flea stalls and such? These hopp around and can jump quite high, best to look up constantly when you see a gap!(has this moved days? We'll see? I hope someone can give me an idea on this badge I found?, nicely Enamelled but not Military I think? more a token of some sort, you're good Forum! the answer's out there! Cheers Billy (how am I going to slip this picture by the Wife????) Last edited by billy; 10-09-20 at 04:47 PM. |

Hello again Dave, how many of these do you think are around? Hundreds, thousands, more?

As it says "Descendants of ..." then there are likely to be hundreds not more.

O/K expect the Sussex 1st V.B. to be the duffer amongst this lot of badges, but badge felt heavy, white paper discolours black when badge rubbed onto it and the lugs looked fine, what I don't like is the nobules on botton arm of cross, you see so much more in a photo than looking at it in the room, rear is "iffy looking with scroll filled?"
I would appreciate your opinions on this though and for the other badges, the Victorian Artillery has a nice gilding which doesn't show up well on photo, the Rangers I like and don't think I have in this size? If I do I will put up for sale, Anodised I have but not as good I think and this I will move on also. I have to ask what the Artillery would approximately cost, also the Rangers badge, as the Sussex badge is probably not good there's no ppoint in asking really, but if it where a good badge I would like to run that past you as well, many thanks Billy |

I don't like the R Sussex from what Remember from my ex R Sussex collection they were very fine die struck detail to the back and a crisp white metal
Re the pouch badge the screw fitting appear to be modern The anodised fine but not far from its value Can not access my London collection at present for comparison -have the 3 variations David |

Picked these up of one dealers at Bridgeport on the way home, for £15 the lot was on card so rear of some was tricky, Top row I think fine, the bottom am thinking dodgy till verified otherwise!
The American badge I haven't worked out just yet but happy its fine as is the Dorsetshire collar though worn somewhat! Thought the Scottish Horse fine till photo's showed discolouration? They may all be crap but hopefully not |

Any ideas on this please? The two Canadian badges looked too good to pass up on but know nothing on them as yet, all the best billy
