Complete guess but could 'swift' be connected to 72 Squadron RAF ?

The lower shoulder strap looks German, 1930's - WWII. If army the black piping would indicate engineers of that period but t I don't know what organisation would wear the strap in those colours and materials.

Having had another look at the images, the strap may not be as light a shade as I thought - desert uniform, tropical dress engineer Unteroffizer I think.
