Default Pictou Highlanders tartan backing...

Just wondering if anyone can tell me the proper orientation of the Mackenzie tartan backing as worn behind the Pictou Highlanders badge on the balmoral / tam o'shanter. Did they wear it the same way as the Seaforths (with the red and white lines forming an "X"), or did they wear it the same way as the Highland Light Infantry (with the red and white lines forming a horizontal cross)? I have tried to find a picture, but have not have any luck. Any help would be appreciated.

I asked a few local collectors here about your question on the tartan I had most tell me that it was in a cross pattern but is unconfirmed. I did mention it to a friend who has some photos of the Pictou Highlanders and he said he will check and see if any shows the tartan and let me know.
