Default ROYAL ENGINEER BLANKING PLATE

This arrived in the post today - Royal Engineer blanking plate.
The plate is standard size but the patch is 115 mm across the top and each leg is approx 110 mm

It's interesting that the design is applied, fabric patches sewn on rather than a woven or printed design - is this common with these kinds of insignia nowadays?

Drew, to be honest with you I have never heard of this book. Even as a avid collector of RE badges etc..

The badge looks to be on an Osprey blanking panel rather than a uniform one, am I correct?

Hi guys , found a thread from 2008 that mentions "have been looking through Capt Daybells book on insignia of the RE" .

Perhaps a PM to the poster (Deejayuu) may be helpful.

'Alcatraz' is lovely thank you, we have good Summer weather, without all you grockles clogging the roads up doing 20mph everywhere!

The Osprey blanking panels are made of Cordura [nylon], the clothing panels are made out of the same material as the MTP uniforms.

So . . . . what exactly is this 'badge' then? It would appear to be way too big to be something official. But there has been a bit of work put into its construction, no?

Possible it is the Armoured Engineers - 32 Engr Regt ??
It may well go on a back pack, day sack, Bergen, something like that?
It is extremely well made and as Crest-Insignia has said properly - The Osprey blanking panels are made of Cordura [nylon]

Are they part of 11 Brigade as it appears to have the colouring of their brigade TRF? (ie 11 Inf Bde Bull) - Regards Mark

Edit: in fact very similiar to the ww2 79th Armoured division patch, currently on offer - McGregors/RobinG site.
