12th Manitoba Dragoons (18th Canadian Armoured Car Regiment) during WWII
Hi all,
As a collector of the 12th Manitoba Dragoons, I would like to share information about them. I got titles, cap badges, pictures from veterans. Could it be possible, in this thread to gather of the variants of titles? Thanks Frederick |

Hello Frederick, Clarification please. You are asking about the cloth titles and formation patches?

Oh! Really nice.
Michael, what is the fabrication of the second title? British made? I propably saw more than 1000 wartime pictures of 12th Manitoba Dragoons Battledress and I've never see one of this title sewed on a battledress. I have a matching pair of the same fabrication and I sewed them on a battledress but that's impossible to know if they wore them? Cheers Fred |

Hi Fred,The top title in Mike's post is seen in many wartime photos. The bottom one I have not seen in images. Do you have Bruce Tascona's XII Manitoba Dragoons:A Tribute? There are lots of images with this pattern of title in wear.
If you are interested in the history of the badges for this regiment, you should get hold of a copy of "Present Design Unsuitable": The Evolution of the 18th Armoured Car Regiment Cap Badge © Bill Alexander and Clive Law 2011. It was published in the CSMMI Journal and the MCC of C Journal last fall.

Hi Bill,
Yes I want a copy of this regiment badges. Where could I find one? I know Bruce. I met him at Winnipeg last year. I don't have his book, I have to find a copy of it. So 'mea culpa' I thought this title was not in wear. We learn all the time Thank you anyway. |

Hi, yes indeed. I read it twice in Brandon MB in the Regimental Museum but I have to buy it.
I aslo have the book printed on 4th May 1945 in Holland. THis one is barely impossible to find out. A veteran gave it to me. Very happy about it. Regards Fred |
