Default RAF early patches

Hi all,

I recently posted a thread regarding a possible RAF WWI eagle, it being a lighter shade than normal. Dave Parsons had one in his excellent PDF file book as a variant.

There were no replies to my post but now I have acquired a couple of possible RAF Mechanic 1st Class (LAC) patches in a similar light colour. I have never seen the patches with a wool/felt background unless accredited to early RAF.

I noted the 2 black thread lines on the propellers are from left to right on both my versions. They are also near identical in design. All subsequent later versions I have seen are right to left. Whether this is another indication of early use I am not sure.

Any comments would be most appreciated.

Regards,

Graham

I recommend you look through 'dragon166's' albums as he has a huge selection of variations.
Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Dragon166 was the late Dave Parsons.

My reference to the lighter eagle is where that came from.

Graham

Ok sorry...his references are superb, such a shame he passed.
Cheers,
