Default RND Items - Ebay again!

I came across this chap today on ebay (946burt). I'd appreciate some comments on the shoulder titles in particular - most of the badges are suspect as far as I'm concerned... but has anyone had dealings?

How can one judge the authenticity of a s/t, as a rule of thumb? Must be relatively easy to reproduce?

Cheers

Neil

Hello Neil,
I had a look at the eBay site and the badges there seem OK to me. However, there may be others on the Forum who could advise further.
I have just posted pictures of my RND and others to "All Albums".
One comment, the Petty Officer (BRZ) on eBay has lugs, mine has tabs.

Neil,Tinto,
Re PO's badge.....have seen quite a few with 'lugs', recently, but usually on disreputable vendor's lists. Say no more?
Of the 8 or 9 origionals that I've viewed ,all have blades, including my own.
One of these, with bronzing/blacking removed(& one blade broken) ,was on a heavily badged belt, that was without a doubt an origional WW1 item, puchased by a friend of mine in recent months.
IMO this is how they should be ?
It is probably safe to presume that most 'rare' titles are now being reproduced, or soon will be ? Hard to tell them in pics ,but a little easier when they are 'in the hand'. Far too many of these appearing on E..., of late & in dubious dealer's lists?
Cheers !
Steve

Thanks Dragonz. Have always been suspicious of titles, especially rare ones!

Would the listed Hood "collar" badge make sense? Not heard of or seen this as a collar before??

Neil,
yes indeed, Peter616 showed a nice set recently & I have one(with tablet) that has been converted into a sweetheart badge( the lugs are obviously clipped & replaced with a broach pin, then gilded).Tinto has a couple on his display board in 'All Albums'( though these are not Gaunt strikings, which are voided between the banners).
As with most of these Naval-type items, collar 'pairs' both seem to face the same way. I believe there may be some exceptions though?
Cheers !
Steve
