Smile 2nd & 4th VB Durhams

The long awaited badges from Bosley's last auction finally arrived in the colonies! Posted proudly to my Durham album but wanted to share and thanks to Ry who in particular said I would survive the Bosley's experience and I have and hope to do so again. Never nice to bid against fellow Forum members as happened on these but one less bidder the next time these come onto the market I guess.

They are two rather nice VB DLI badges in maltese cross design.

2nd VB DLI in white metal QVC with lugs 1881-1902.

4th VB DLI in gilding metal KC with slider 1902-1908.

Enjoy, regards Dean.

Hello Dean,

I am pleased that you had an enjoyable experience with the auction.

I know that some members don't hold the organisation in the highest of esteem but for acquiring badges of this calibre and rarity you could do a lot worse.

Well done Dean, they are "rather nice" and thanks for giving us the opportunity of seeing them, it'll probably be a long time before my Durhams collection is graced with additions such as these but I'll take inspiration from your collection in the mean time.

Regards

Ry

Thanks Ry,

Yes the top end of a regimental collection as I call it starts to challenge the finance department and auction sights are a good place to find the desired items.

I have a collecting friend that has seen the 4th VB once in 40 years!

Cheers Dean - thanks again for re-assuring me on dealing with Bosley's.

Hi Paul,

That is just cruel you going to the Durham Arms fair - means it has been a year since I was over. A year too long. I had 6 UK work trips in 12 months and not one since.

Happy for you to look out for VB Durhams but you probably like them for you no doubt!

Take care and regards to the Prince Bishops for me !

Cheers Dean.
