Can anyone tell me if this is original .It has repairs to it and a name etched on the back.

This is a copy - the name on the back is in fact VITTORIO PIOTTI, a sculpter by trade. Back in the 70's he produced a LOT of wartime [WW2] Italian special force type unit insignias - parachute troops, X Flotilla MAS and others. Unfortunately not all carried any type of markings on the back.
