Default Coldstream Guards

Just a £2.99 buy, is it a fake or new metal.

Hi Guys,

Dunno.

The slider is Firmin and badges since 2012 (if I remember) are not maker marked.

I have no info on ranks 'New Metal' badges for Coldstream Guards and, of course, it could be PRI. However, I would hang on to it for now.

Where did it come from?

Regards,

Chris

I got it on eBay Chris. I was hoping it was an unmarked anodised one, but alas a cheap metal one.
Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,

The anodised version comes with lugs and I think I saw some in unopened packets last week or so on eBay for under 5 GBP.

While most modern 'New Metal' badges are very made well some even made of silver with gold plating the finish on others can be pretty poor. The gold and silver ranks RLC item can be found in a shocking state with the AA item a more superior piece for finish.

I would hang on to it for now. It was most certainly made by Firmin and I would say within the last 10 years.

Are those two initials to the right of the slider just below the lower depression 5 o'clock or just die flaws? The rest of the rear of the badge appears to be consistently smooth apart from this area.

Regards,

Chris

Hi Andy - anodised aluminium version of the Coldstream Guards cap star also comes with a London Badge & Button marked slider. Its the same incarnation as the slider version of The Grenadier Guards example.

It is on the Guards sets pictures that I emailed to you a couple of months ago mate.

Regards all

Bess
