The Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin & Halton Regiment)
Good Evening All
I am attaching 2 pictures of The Lorne Scots collar dogs. One is the Left and the other is the Right. Left one is golden in colour and the right is silver in colour. Both have maker's mark of W. Scully Ltd. Mazeas 1920-1950 M41 or Thompson Q50. A couple of questions, the first is; does the difference in colour symbolize OR and Officer? The second question if the colour isn't different for OR or Officer, does that help date them? Any help would be great. Thank you in advance Chris PS I searched the gallery and found a pair in silver and haven't found a thread specific to my question. If there is one and you can point me in that direction fantastic too.

According to Chris Brookers reference books it is likely that the brass one maker marked W. Scully Ltd was issued post 1953 (Vol 3, Page 148). It is likely that the one in white metal was issued post 1953 as well as the boar's snout on these later pattern collars are fatter then their earlier versions. He does not indicate any collar patterns pre 1953 as being maker marked. That said his books are although an excellent reference, sometimes less than accurate. He indicates the brass pattern as OR's.
