Unusual RAF Warrant Officer Slider - British & Commonwealth Military Badge Forum

A friend has sent me this for my thoughts but its not one I know. Clearly an RAF Warrant Officer slider but what type? I thought it might be an early version of the Chief of Air Staff's Warrant Officer, but probably not. Can anyone help?

It is a trial/workmanship sample for a Master Aircrew. Totally wrong of course! See my book which you downloaded (Appendix 1 Trial & Prototype badges) to see this one and several others of the same ilk.

I did actually look at your book, but only in the rank badges section not the prototypes! However, I have now seen the section. You seem to assume they are prototypes or samples - has this now been confirmed?
