how to remove lacquer from badges

Generally a solvent like acetone or the like in modern polish remover.

That will also remove super-glue from your fingers.

I would also suggest placing the badges in boiling water, but don't let the vessel boil dry. Most lacquers are heat sensitive.
Paint stripper was also suggested but just watch it as the corrosive agent (caustic soda?) can colour the metal. Oh, and also a heat gun as used for stripping paint but again not too much heat if you don't want your badges "toned". |
