Default RMP Sgt.(?)...well........hummmmm.....

A Luftwaffe officer is escorted down the gangplank of a hospital ship to exercise on the quayside at Newhaven,. He was one of a number of wounded German POWs awaiting repatriation in a prisoner exchange which was abandoned days later when negotiations broke down. England. October 5th 1941.

By the look of his right hand, his flying days must have been over (hence his name being on a repatriation list?)

That particular officer was repatriated, his right arm had been very badly damaged after being hit by machinegun bullets the year before, he was very lucky indeed not to lost it, then there was the matter of the splinter in one of his lungs too.
I had to amend post seventeen after noticing just who it was, we had met on several times over the years and I considered him a friend, although, certainly not one I would have liked to have had I been around when that image was taken.

Yes, I did, he has been gone for a few years now, tell me, did you have family members, grandparents perhaps actually in Essex in 1940, Allison?

I thought Frank was referring to the German officer, that was my interpretation, apologies Frank if I've confused things further!
And just to jump to Paul's defence I took his comment as a light hearted remark about the KOYLI and nothing more.

Hello Allison,
I was indeed, so you were quite correct, but, there were an awful lot of KOYLI who did not pass a very hard two week course and I was more that a little confused by his post.
Kind regards Frank

I reckon that is an Intelligence Corps cap badge - so Field Security and not CMP who would have a red top to his SD Cap and an MP arm band.

Seen that before. It looks like the Luftwaffe guy has an artificial right hand/arm. He looks quite contemptuous of the fat Field Security guy who has obviously been eating someone else's rations as well!
