The world gets even smaller
It seems the older you get so the world keeps getting smaller !
In the not so distant past , whilst doing family history research I discovered that through descendants of my Grandfathers brothers I had ( previously unknown to me ) distant relatives In the Liverpool Scottish and the Irish Guards. Today I found a memorial to my relative Guardsman Anthony Brydon who was killed in Palestine, then to my amazement I found the current Director of Music of the Irish Guards is one Captain Peter Brydon. Incredible !!! Peter ( Brydon )

That is very cool and must give you a great since of pride.
I knew nothing about my fathers WW2 career, until after he had passed away, only to find his bomber is a pretty famous one. Although he had a picture of her in the photo album my mom made of his wartime photos he never once said it was his plane. I learned it from his crew chief who I made contact with and became dear friends with until his passing. Very happy for you as I know how you feel! Terry |

Peter,
I visited the Khayat Beach cemetery many years ago as part of a worldwide pre-Internet project to commemorate Intelligence Corps war graves. Most evocative was to see a row of headstones for 12 soldiers from 2 PARA who died in a traffic accident on 24 October 1947 and were buried side by side in E.B 8 to 19. Also visited the CWGC Cemetery at Ramleh where the Intelligence Corps Sergeants Paice and Martin who were kidnapped and murdered are buried, again, side by side. We were not able to visit the CWGC Cemetery in Gaza but subsequently arranged for a member of the British Embassy to visit. RIP in these difficult times. Tim

That is most interesting because my relative was killed in a traffic accident.
