Hallmarked silver Berkshire IY? Well yes, but no!
Good afternoon.
And for those Members who still do not quite understand the UK's hallmarking system, here's a real treat, pick the bones out of this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281510355424 Go on, buy it. You know you want to! Enjoy. S.T. PS. Nowt to do with me, and I wouldn't touch this in a million lifetimes. Nothing wrong with the hallmark though (London, 1980-81): that part of the badge at least is almost certainly genuine. |

Please enlighten me, I'm assuming some person has made up a repro silver copy of an early badge and had it hallmarked? Correct? They should be...sorry, not PC

This has to be a leg pull, yes?
Good afternoon.
Let me get this right: you want me to explain what is wrong with a Berks IY cap badge hallmarked London 1980? Geddaoutahere! You're 'avin a larf! N't ya son? As my grandad Bill would have said. S.T. |

Yes. I take it that's it. Its a copy of a pre 1908 badge made in silver and hallmarked as such- in 1980? Do you have an opinion of the badge being silver ST? Regards, Paul. (watches blue touch paper and awaits damp fizz)
Looks to have a mix of good and bad badges. F&F Yeo. looks OK. Last edited by wardog; 28-11-14 at 04:49 PM. |
