Default Bandmaster Badge ?

Quite a number of pictures of musicians badges seem to have been posted recently, some military and some civilian.

I picked up the badge in the attached pictures this morning and I presume it is a Bandmasters hat badge for a civilian band.

Any confirmation or otherwise much appreciated.

Peter,

It does have a R.N.look about it, and would possibly have had a seperate crown! Just my opinion,

Eddie

I've had a few of these too! At first I thought they were modern German, as the wreath and shape is similar to their current badges! Although I cannot recall which reference book it was at the moment and I'm away from my library for a few days, I seems to think they are American (USA)?

Peter

The main wreath part of the badge looks like it is a 2nd pattern RND Officer's cap badge with the crown & anchor removed and the lyre looks like one of the collar badges once used by the Royal Marines Bands. I think it is most likely Navy (Band?) related but not sure in what way.

Thanks to everyone who replied, the lyre is superimposed over the wreath.
