Well, that was certainly my own belief, I have certainly encountered various gilding metal badges that do appear to have been worn too, although, they are few, but, I was puzzled after reading this thread, which is why I asked for clarification.

More than likely. However,they did come as a job lot,older and later pattern buttons included,and were possibly owned by the same family.
