Light Horse Emu Plumes
A while back I saw a picture of a 10 Light Horse badge with a fan of emu plumes behind it, not the trailing plumes of old. I have also read of the slouch hat with emu plumes having been re-introduced for a Light Horse Regiment for formal/ceremonial wear. I cannot remember which regiment.
This sounds as thought it is probably one for Slick Mick, but can somebody please tell me if the above is correct or not. I will try to add a picture of the 10LH badge with fan of emu plumes behind it, and I would be glad to know if this is genuine, or something simply put together by somebody.

Looks ok to me. The XLH boys have been known to wear slightly longer tufts. All the RAAC regiments now wear the slouch hat with plumes. They all have been wearing plumes in their slouch hats since 1993 or thereabouts.
The Chief of the Army has also made a disgraceful decision recently and just about banned berets! No longer allowed for daily wear unless your a Commando or SAS soldier!!! Quite a disgrace! Many disgruntled ex RAAC diggers here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Save-t...49306918422343 Mick

Light Horse Emu Plumes
Thanks for the prompt and concise reply Mick, I am much obliged, but am horrified to hear about the black beret.
10 LH wearing the slouch hat since about 1993.......well, that just shows how out of touch I am, it being over fifty years since I was at Karrakatta with 10LH. I see I must pay more attention to these things. Regards, John

No worries mate! Your not the only one who is horrified.
The decision is a disgrace and smacks of double standards. The RAAC Association is trying to take action and I am encouraging people to write away to their local politicians etc to get them to put pressure on the Defence Minister and the CA. It's a huge impact on army and RAAC history and tradition and has an impact on morale! Mick

Banned Berets
I was down in Canberra last week at the ADFA, the information I received about the Berat is that the ban took effect on August 1st and the only Regiment allowed to wear it now is the SAS only. There is talk that the metal shoulder titles may be bought back in, these were also removed on the same date. Some of the troops down there are not happy as the WO-A is taking about banning the baseball cap.
