Default JR Gaunt & sons and Firmin

Hi,

I believe JR Gaunt and sons was taken over by Firmin and Sons in 1991.
Does anyone know when the J R Gaunt &Sons Mark on sterling silver badges stopped being used? I’ve seen a Yorkshire silver horse badge with a 1995 year mark, 4 years after they were taken over, is this unusual for a mark to be used so long after a take over?

Thanks in advance
Rob

Numerous Gaunt marks of differing types including those I’ve seen stamped on officers badges pop up all over the place due to being or having been in the hands of the repro merchants.

The better question is probably when did Gaunt officially stop using their name on marked silver.

Sadly I do not know the answer to that question.

Hi Luke, thanks for your reply, that is a better way of putting my question. This is a link to the badge if that helps

If anyone knows when they did stop using their mark it would be great to know
Thank you
