Default Royal Fusiliers Tin Badge

Going through my late step-fathers collections I have come across the badge pictured. As you can see it has the initials "RF" on it and crossed cannons, beneath the flame / bomb. I presume that this relates to the Royal Fusiliers, who have a long and illustrious history.
It is some 3 & 1/2 inches wide and made of tin. Can anyone tell me the period to which this badge belongs and to what it would have been affixed?.
Thank you.

It’s of a french Adrian helmet judging by the blue paint to the rear WW1 vintage

RF = Republique Francais and not Royal Fusiliers.

regards

As already stated, a French Model 1915 helmet Artillery badge worn painted light blue until the mid-1930's when the helmet colour changed to khaki.
A modified version of the helmet, the Model 1926, was introduced in the 1920's, I think that's when new versions of the various insignia were introduced, smaller, on a circular background.
