what size is it? looks to be a miniature.
the miniatures versions of the soldiers orriginal unit were often worn above the full size colour patch of the soldiers subsequent service. eg. starts out in the 2/20th but transfers to service corps. would have thad the mini 2/20th above the full size service corps patch |

Sorry, guys, but I don't think it's 2/20th Bn, and it's certainly not full-size. In 1940 the 2/20th were issued a brown over green oval on a grey background in early 1940 as part of the original 2nd AIF scheme, but they soon replaced it with their 'historical' design of a white over green diamond, although still on a grey oval to signify membership of 8th Div. They were captured in Singapore wearing the white and green diamond. I think your patch is a miniature (albeit on the large side) to 35th Bn, a militia unit that achieved AIF status (and hence entitled to the grey background) during WW2 and served overseas in New Guinea in 1944-45.
