In my opinion, everything looks OK. Glengarry badges can be hard to authenticate and I would prefer to see brass lugs, but the north south placement is correct.

Those loops may well in fact be brass CB.

I would like better focused higher resolution photos with better lighting, but, from what I can see it is not from the common ‘high tail’ repro die. It appears to be from the same die as the 24th shown in KK and shares similar voiding.

A potential concern would be the detail, or lack of, on the crown’s jewels and Sphinx’s headdress and saddle areas. I’m unsure if the 24th is one Fox copied using purportedly worn original dies. Given their Zulu War fame I’d be surprised if it wasn’t.

Attached is an example I was shown last year which I felt quite certain was genuine. Note the detail in the areas mentioned plus strong edge to the Egypt table along with the sharp flat surfaced lettering. The centre as I recall was somewhat domed out.

Back to yours, nothing I can see presently rules it out of the race, but I would like those pics in order to confirm it’s not a cast copy. The 24th is probably a contender for one of the most fakes pre-territorial glengarry badges out there.

I would also seek someone with Geoff McWilliams seminal book to ask if he provided measurements and weights for this badge.
