Unkown item
Good morning all,
I am not too sure if this is the forum for this item. It is a mirror with, I think, an Edward crown depicting a British Soldier and Sailor made out of three ply wood with a hole near the top of the crown to hang it on a nail. Any ideas or help would really be appreciated. Kind regards. Alf |

First thing i thought was that it was a frame for a WW1 Death Penny

Has more of a Boer War souvenir look to me showing the typical depiction of the Soldier and the 'Blue Jacket' of the era.

Hi
A really nice item. Irrespective of date, it hails from the era when fretwork was almost the "tik tok" of its age. There is a great older book (1970s?) called, I think, "Popular Arts of the First World War" which covers trench art, etc. Fretwork gets a look in and there is a great illustration of a plane shooting down a "Zep"! Oh, and the writer has an excellent sense of humour... |

Thank you so much gentleman. I shall certainly try and get a copy of the book and thank you all for your comments. Much appreciated.
