Default J & CO

A collar badge to the 11th King Edward's Own Lancers (Probyn's Horse) 1861-1922. Makers mark J&CO, the split pin is of interest as well.

Mike, use the pics if you wish to.

As 54Bty say the split pin is most interesting, I have never seen one similar in over 40 years.

Wink

Yes, for the forum's list if the picture is OK. Not for the use of an 'unknown' chap called Mark!

Default JR Gaunt makers mark - late Jennens + JE mark

Another one for the Makers Mark album.
This is the back of an officers 2 part bronze cap badge to the
4th (RI) Dragoon Guards. What I haven't seen before is the small
'JE' mark underneath.
Inscription reads:

J.R.GAUNT
LONDON
LATE
JENNENS
JE

Note that the 'JE' is angled slightly and not as heavily stamped.
I am assuming that (maybe) the 'JE' was stamped on before
the other stamp was used.

I wonder if the JE is just the beginning of JENNENS and that it represents a mis-stamping ???

I'll show some other G late J marks once I work out how to convert .tifs into something that will fit here !

Sorry but I don't believe that Marples and Beasley ever marked their ORs' badges. In fact I am doubtful that they even made then but specialised in Offrs' badges.

PHILLIPS, ALDERSHOT

Silversmith is F.P - unable to trace them.

Default Another Makers Mark

This is for WD&S - William Dowler & Son - a Birmingham silversmith (which may or may not be related to the DOWLER company mark. This is from a 3rd pattern Tyneside Scottish badge.

Hi Folks,

Another opportunity to show my lack of understanding.................. during a recent conversation with a friend on another matter, he happened to mention J.& Co. in the context of them stopping production in 1924.

If this is the case, can someone tell me how my 1st Royal Dragoons cap badge and one of my collar badges is marked J.& Co. according to John Gaylor, they were worn from 1948 to 1969 ?

Thanks in advance.

Dave.
