Cap Badge Backings & Embellishments - The ACI's
Some more interesting Army Council Instructions from 1951 regarding Ebellishments(ACI 218) - Cap Badge Backings(ACI 322) and an Amendment(ACI 458) to ACI 322.
Apologies if these have been displayed before, plus there's been a malfunction and they aren't in the right order. Last edited by Mike; 10-12-12 at 10:06 AM. Reason: images removed |

Graham, the word "Instruction" in your link takes me to something about a mum earning $77 an hour. Does she make embellishments?
Are these ACI's available anywhere, either to buy or online? David |

Quote:
The originals were kept by the MOD Library at their HQ in Old Scotland Yard, but they had a big clear out many years ago and believe they were all shifted to the National Archive. A second publication known as Army Orders was also published, which reflected ACI's and went down to unit level and I've managed to get hold of a number of Volumes of them, but again they're rarely seen. |

They are indeed held in the National Archives;
Army Orders in WO 123 and Army Council Instructions in WO 293. (Badjez and I used to meet there going through volume after volume !) |

Are these documents subject to legal deposit?
If so, copies might be available at the British Library, the National Library of Scotland, the National Library of Wales, the Bodleian Library Oxford, the Library of Cambridge University and the Library of Trinity College Dublin. Whether they are easily accessible there is another matter. |

No 'Crown Documents' were/are not subject to Legal Deposit in the British Library in the same way as published books are. But a lot of modern publications are available via the 'Freedom of Information Act' if you word your request correctly.
