Great badges Mike, thanks for sharing.

Your badge number 10 The South African Light Horse looks a contender for a badge being worn by soldiers in a picture which has up all puzzled, could you check it out and see what you think as the badge is a possible match but what about the uniforms?

Hi Luke......

Looks very good but you would have to have someone who is better at identifying uniform patterns.....

Here are the next batch of badges......

1.. Umvoti Mounted Rifles

2. Damant's Horse

3. 13th Battalion Imperial yeomanry, Duke of Cornwall's Own

4. French's Scouts

Default South African LIght Horse

Your South African Light Horse badge is very nice. I have two, one like yours and one a bit different. I believe these were made "In country". I have been searching for a Brabant's Horse badge to no avail.

Hi Mike

Thanks for posting the Kimberley Light Horse badge. Just on the "off chance", do you happen to have either Bushveldt Carbineers or Pietersberg Light Horse? What about Provincial Police Pretoria??

Cheers

Hi Mike, WOW! This is a nice lot you have put together. Most impressive, it has me watering at the mouth. Some of these I have never seen before. The "KTG" badge you have is listed in Owen's book as Kenhardt Town Guard(Number 1714). If you should ever decide to move some, I would be keen. Happy New Year. Regards Andrew

Hello Andrew....

Thanks for the kind comments...... I have been advised that the KTG badge is Kenhart so therefore is must be even rarer than the Kimberly Town Guard the funny thing is it came with a QSA and Star to the KImberly TG......

I do not have a copy of Owen's book so was unable to check......

Mike

Hi Mike, strange that the badge came with the Kimberley medals. I wonder if it was added afterwards? I have the Kenhardt badge, I also have a straight KTG which is similar to the KLH you have, but in brass. This in theory is the Kimberley Town Guard. Many of these badges are difficult to ID 100% ,unless you find a photograph, as they were hand made. Keep up the good fight. Have a grand 2009. Regards Andrew

Default Is this a Canadian Boer War badge?

After searching the forum for similar badges I thought I'd take a stab at placing this question on this thread.
I recently acquired a mixed lot of badges and amongst them was the badge pictured below.

Is anyone able to identify and/or confirm my suspicion that this is a Boer War vintage Canadian Cap badge? I'm still at a loss. Could this be New Brunswick Garrison?

Any ideas would be most appreciated. I'm primarily a Navy Medal Collector not a badge expert.

thanks,
Rob

Good Morning Rob.......

Sorry but I have never seen this badge before and it is not listed in the books on Canadian badges of this period that I have..... I think that you may have to explore other leads.......
