I have a friend not too far away who has a pin making machine, see example !

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PSNI-36mm-Pin-...item4aa1f4942b

I think Mike's idea with the forum logo and colours would be good, individual Countries could be easily represented as in Mike's Canada example ?????

Dave.

PS, I haven't actually mentioned this to him yet.......oops.

I'm prepared to ask the question Mike but a lot has to be resolved yet in the design department, as for having one myself, yes, I would buy one but I wouldn't wear it to any fairs , for personal reasons.

Dave.

Master Badge Artisan, thats a fancy title you have there Dave,so badge guru was not good enough then .
So how are we coming along with this idea, at the end of the day i think mike should have the final say on which design for a badge we use imo.

Hi Malc,

How was Farnham ? did you get anything nice ??

As for the ' guru ' business, remember that it was I, myself who asked not to be a ' guru ' due to my lack of knowledge ........... and I would still be quite happy to be just a ' member '.

The MBA was a laugh on Mike's part but it does bring me into the ' lime-light ' which I never really wanted either..............

Dave.

Hello again gents,

In my humble opinion I think the roundel proposed by mike is fantastic especially as it retains the original forum identity as well as having the option to personalise it with your own national emblem.

I think that it meets all the criteria of simplicity, national identity, and cost(?)

If it could be proposed formally to the full membership and agreed upon I would be happy to offer any reasonable physical contribution to its production/purchase needed to get the job done.

yours in anticipation
Ry

How will buttons be distributed? Especially those of us in the far flung Dominions?

If we can get this together, I may be able to help there.

I'm in the process of starting up a small collectables business which will have a distribution capability.

If all goes to plan I would be happy to help out as much as I can, we can sort the fine detail at a later date.

Non profit of course as long as I could recover expenses from the members individually.

I'm sure that there are other members who trade who would be able to offer advice/help here too.

Hope that helps.
Ry

I have to agree that this last idea it works. Thank you Mike for your guidance, as this design does cover all of the bases. It is along way from where we were in the middle of this discussion, however I believe it does work in the end. I hope we can all agree in the end.
I'm in!
Let me know the details as we move forward with this.

Default Price and production info

Hello gents,

In order to test the water with regard to the practicalities of producing the badge and to get some idea of the cost involved I have made an informal approach to a Badge manufacturer.

They are able to produce and supply the kind of thing that we require and I have attached a sample of the type available with the fixing options.

The cost is not prohibitive except for one snag.

This being the cost of the individual die which runs to £65.00 for each particular strike, this would definitely rule out named or numbered badges and as for individual nations We would have to do a poll to see what demand there is for each nation.

There is an option however to have a blank tablet which individuals could have engraved after purchase (possibly before) with their name or nation.

On to cost:

As I said the die is £65.00 per pattern.

Minimum order is 100 and the cost of this amount is £195.00 so a total for a minimum production run of 100 would be £260.00 and give a unit price of £2.60

A production run of 500 including the die would be £440.00 giving a unit price of £0.88

and further runs once the die is produced (retained by the badge company) would work out at:

production run of 100, unit price £1.95

production run of 500, unit price of £0.75

So not too unreasonable.

I have only done this as an excercise to put forward the information and hope that it helps to move things forwards if this is what the members want.

Regards to all
Ry
