Default Building a Bibliography.

Hi All

One of our missions for the forum users is to construct a bibliography of titles on British and Commonwealth military insignia;

We are aware of the "wide ranging" titles such as Infantry Collar Badges (Churchill), Head-dress Badges of the British Army (Kipling and King), Collecting metal shoulder titles (Westlake) etc.

what we need is submissions to this thread of the more obscure books on individual unit / corps and books on colonial badges so we can build a list.

here is an example :

The Fifth Fusiliers and it's Badges; Denis Wood (published the author)
printed by Irwin Technical Ltd. London, 1988 129 pp








if you know of titles like these for other units please add them here.

Hi
This book as the title suggests is only dealing with badges of The Worcestershire Regiment bIt was privately printed but is still available from Amazonit is a book well worth having

No I do not know the exact number but I do know that they can be obtained from the RHQ at Worcester and also from the auther himself but RHQ would be the best bet address below.But you would have to get in before Decembewr when unfder thae recent changes RHQ will close at Worcester anyone who wants a ciopy shouls ask to speak to Mrs Arthurs. New Zealand Army Distinguishing Patches 1911-1991
by Malcolm Thomas and Cliff Lord
In two parts. (Patches, badges, all supported with historical background) The seminal work on the subject. Self Published for NZ Army Anniversary.

The Armed Forces of Aden 1839-1967
Helion Publishing. Cliff Lord and David Birtles
History of Aden raised units and over 50 badges shown plus a lot of photos of uniforms. 112 pp. Some colour pix.

Royal Corps of Signals: Unit Histories of the Corps (1920-2001) and its Antecedents SUPPLEMENTARY VOLUME, Cliff Lord
313 pp published by Helion. Many pix of badges and insignia - the book is mainly unit histories of the major commonwealth Signal Corps. Very strong in Australia, Canada, South Africa, and New Zealand but has others too. Published 2007.

also

Swift and Sure
A History of the Royal New Zealand Corps of Signals and Army Signalling in New Zealand By Laurie Barber and Cliff Lord. 296 pp and foreword by Princess Anne. Definitive history of RNZSigs and also includes a lot of the dif badges worn by the corps.

ANZAC Elite by Cliff Lord and Julian Tennant is the most comprehensive work on Wings for Australia and New Zeland - in colour. Hundreds of pix.

Insignia of Gurkha units in India and Burma (para-military, military police, frontier force and war raised units up to 1948 )
All available form the gurkha museum at about £10 to £15 each.

The final publication in the process of being put together, is one covering units raised since 1948. eg Signals, service corps, GMP, Eng and currant RGR.
