4 days after my initial post Captain Tom has raised just over £23 million. Heard a rumour that he may be getting a Spitfire fly past on his birthday (30th April), can anyone confirm this and is it from BOB memorial flight?

Just gone through the £25,300,000 mark. Plus £4,700,000 from Gift aid brings total over £30,000,000.

Unfortunately Tim, not the one I was hoping to add, nevertheless, a wonderful tribute.

Tried again, unfortunately the result is the same as previous attempts.

It won't upload.

Each of you, try and find it somewhere, ask friends, family and children to source it.

Hopefully the painting will be presented to his old regiment or better still, sold for a bucket full of money and then donated to the regiment by whoever purchased it.

Regards

He could be No.1 in the music charts on his birthday:

Captain Tom Moore has teamed up with Michael Ball for a fundraising cover of You'll Never Walk Alone.

Beat Tom Jones with a 31 year margin as he got to number 1 at the age of 68. Total still climbing but slowed down now. Raised £28.9m + £5.4m Gift Aid so far. Captain Tom has his 100th birthday next Thursday, hopefully break the £30m barrier by then.

What a story, Captain Tom Moore or should i say, COLONEL(hon) Tom Moore as form today. Broke the £30m mark today on his 100th birthday. Add the £5.7m from gift aid! Personal message from the Queen as well as the prime minister. And top to it all, a spitfire / hurricane did not one but three fly pasts over his house.
Well done Colonel and happy birthday!

Ps, an estimated 140,000 birthday cards in the local school for him as well as being given the freedom of London.

There is a special programme scheduled to air on ITV to mark Captain Tom's "wartime adventures" which coincides with VE Day.

Friday May 8th at 8pm for 30 minutes

I just saw a bit of TV footage - the old fellah's wearing a Defence Medal, someone must've spotted that he was entitled to one.

Not the first time on telly, he was on a Blankety Blank christmas show with Terry Wogan when his girls were 14 & 16 so must have been the mid to late 1980`s!

Col Tom's promotion and his new medal were featured on the Aussie TV news and the fly over as well.

Col Tom, I salute you.

Regards

Phil
